If you are like me, the kitchen is the most important space in your home; the place where everyone gathers and where love is poured into every home-cooked meal. So much time can be spent in the kitchen, so when the design of it is not working for you, it’s time to make a change! And that is exactly what these clients did; a couple with three children near San Francisco, dreaming of a light, airy and livable kitchen remodel that didn’t break the bank. They were lucky enough to partner with Leslie Price of Price Style and Design to make their wishes come true.
Says Leslie, “The homeowners wanted a space that was calm and uncluttered. The footprint of the kitchen remained the same, but overhanging cabinets were removed to open up the sight line from the kitchen to the family room.”
White cabinetry (painted and refaced rather than replaced to keep the budget down), Carrara marble counter tops and white 2×8″ subway tile create a clean, modern backdrop for this new kitchen. A sleek new lighting fixture replaced the outdated ceiling mount light, and modern chrome pendants over the breakfast area add to the contemporary feel. Finishing touches like large cabinet hardware, an over-sized sink faucet and flat stove top complete a stunning renovation.
The modern barstools from Exclusive Mod match the chrome pendants and cabinetry hardware, perfectly rounding out the space.
Subway tile extending to the ceiling (much higher than the traditional 3-4″ backsplash) adds interest and helps the walls fade into the background of this small kitchen, creating the illusion of more space.
My design philosophy is that your home should make you happy. Leslie Price
