Nestled in the quiet coastal suburb of Casuarina Beach in New South Wales, Australia is the beachside family home of Mandie Wright, founder and designer behind Tailored Space Interiors.
Says Mandie, “Our open plan, multi-purpose space was designed with our small family top of mind. I wanted to be able to cook in the kitchen whilst watching Millie play with Ziggy (our dog) or swimming in the pool, which is adjacent to the kitchen. The beauty is, we can all be doing different things whilst still hanging out together. We also wanted each room to have its very own special feature.”
We think you will agree that Mandie has succeeded in making each living space unique.
“We love the open plan kitchen, dining and living space. What we love most about this area of the home is the light. This room oozes so much natural light and also has amazing air flow.” Bayliss Rugs.
“My 1930’s English Oak chairs are an absolute favourite. They were once in Melbourne’s Alfred Hospital Nurse Quarters. I have had these beauties for many, many years and I now love the soft ice blue cotton blend fabric that we have had them re-upholstered in. I also love our Globe West Presley coffee table; it is a statement piece without being too much.”
“We have dressed the louver windows and stacker doors with block-out and reverse pleat sheer curtains, with a combination of white shutters for the double hung windows. I feel like this keeps it simple yet stylish.” Vilma’s Quality Curtains; Border Blinds and Shutters.
“We have used French Oak flooring to create a “bentable” as Adam (my husband) calls it. It’s our table that is attached to our Smartstone Island. Copper pendant lights, black tapware and a copper-tinted mirrored back splash all work well together. We love the mixture of materials. This helps in creating a warm feel to the open plan layout.”
The courtyard includes a lovely dining area and pool. A perfect space for entertaining, fun, and some rest and relaxation.
The floor to ceiling windows allow for a lot of natural light to come in, and for Mandie to be able to watch her daughter Millie enjoy the pool from her home office space.
“The polished concrete floors are a treat, we are so happy with them, they are exactly how Adam and I wanted them to be. Cool but at the same time warm…..if that even makes sense!”
“The master bedroom has a very personal original art piece and copper pendant lights.”
“The guest room has custom-built bedside tables that are held up with black powder coated frames.”
“Millie’s room has a feature wrap wall in Dulux Skyway, she also has a ‘daddy’ made framed queen bed house.”
Seek professional advise if you are unsure. Building your dream home should be fun, rewarding and a special time for all involved. Take the stress out where you can. Mandie Wright
