How do you create an inspirational home for sophisticated music and art lovers? Through thoughtful use of color, texture and eclectic furnishings to create an edgy, yet warm and comfortable space. This Manhattan-raised couple turned to Inspired Interiors to help them design a forever home in Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood that reflects their lifestyle and creative personalities. Designer Emily Mackie describes the collaboration that led to this amazing residence:

“The couple’s love for art and music played an integral role in the overall design. While the clients’ updated space is reminiscent of their personal style, they relied on Inspired Interiors to take risks with color, scale and art.

“The living room, dining room and powder room were the main focus for this project, where moody colors and stand-out pieces create a ‘rocker chic’ vibe that maintains both an eclectic and cozy feel.”

“Custom fireplace storage and a one-of-a-kind jade velvet couch take center stage in the space, greeting guests as soon as they enter the home. Furthering the dramatic first-impression is the handmade, salvaged book sculpture by Nikki Rudolph centered above a regal wood-burning fireplace.”

Our unique design process is tailored to reflect and celebrate clients’ authentic selves – their passions, habits and lifestyle. Once we feel we completely understand our clients’ needs, we begin to develop concepts and work together to come up with a final design.  Emily Mackie

“The dining room maintains personality by blending bold elements with mid-century modern touches. Though the reupholstered Pierre Cardin chairs that surround the dining table are eye-catching, the real focal point of the room is the homeowner’s rare bike sculpture by French artist, Curtis Jere. Pulling the room together are the dark undertones from Benjamin Moore’s Pacific Sea Teal, a risky color choice that seemingly encompasses the elements to create a romanticized space.”

Today the space takes a nod from Williamsburg, NY as both the exterior and interior carry a modern, jazzy feel that blends new elements with existing ones. Now, the revamped spaces are not just rooms, but instead they create a journey through the couple’s daily inspirations. Emily Mackie
