This gorgeous renovation for a couple who wanted an open floor plan includes a few of their existing pieces mixed with sourced items to better reconfigure the space. The clients entertain often and enjoy parties that flow from inside out to the veranda. Lisa Sherry of Lisa Sherry Intérieurs provides some insight into her design:
“To create a sense of calm, while still providing interest, we sourced organic as well as upholstered pieces to create texture and layers.”
“Lighting is always an important part of a design (dimmers always!) and helps give a space depth and interest. “
“To contrast with the very open, light family and dining rooms, the office is dark and moody…”
“One small design tip that can make a big impact? Paint! Dark paint can make a really dramatic statement, especially when the ceiling is painted. The dark navy walls of this study help connect the dots back to the dark trim in the dining and family rooms.”
Using different textures in the same color world instantly provides interest. Think velvet, linen, faux fur, mixing smooth, textured and reflective surfaces. Mixing organic and upholstered pieces is one of our signatures! Lisa Sherry
We love the texture, light and layers Lisa used to create a classic, but comfortable space. What elements would you pull from this renovation to create sanctuary in your own space?
