When a pro event designer throws her son’s 1st birthday – it makes for a splendid summer gathering with the most adorable details around every corner! Inspired by a trip to New York City and her son’s love for building blocks and cars, Brandi Hines creates a fun, whimsical fete enjoyable for kids and adults alike.

Brandi shares…“The event took place at our home at the time, one we designed and built about a year before Parker was born. I am not much into themed parties, although after having a baby, I was sure this couldn’t be avoided forever. We had taken a trip to New York not too long before parker was born and it was just stuck in my head: the fun, the colors, the movement, it was just one of those things I fixated on. Parker was developing his own personality and in love with building blocks and cars, so off I went with how to incorporate building blocks into a party, and then it hit me as we laid there building cities with our blocks. It was like New York City all over.”

Pro tip:

Dedicate areas of the home or venue that you will be using for the event, and decorate them accordingly to designate the areas you would like your guests to use. Brandi Hines

We love the idea of a photo opp in front of this 1st birthday plaque! You can see just how much Parker’s grown in the past year looking at the #1 (below) filled with his baby pictures. What an adorable idea and a keepsake you can hold on to after the party is over.
