When you are ready for a fresh start and want to ensure that your new space fits your lifestyle and reflects your personality, who do you turn to? If you are lucky enough to be the parents of a talented interior designer, the decision is easy! This empty-nester couple enlisted daughter Karla Dreyer of Karla Dreyer Design to help them make a move to the city and downsize to a 1,600 square foot condo in Vancouver, British Columbia.
“This modern glam condo is one of my favorites”, says Karla.“It had great bones with tons of natural light and white floors. We wanted to make a place that was light and bright but also very comfortable.”
So many large windows are a blessing, and can also be a drawback. With little wall space, Karla added glamour and interest through the use of color and texture in the furnishings. Gold metallic accents are enhanced by all the natural light, and the use of small-scale furniture and glass tables keeps the space feeling open and airy.

I am such a believer that our homes represent our lives. As Oprah says “Your home should rise up to meet you!” and I believe this to be true. It’s the most personal thing we have and where we can really show who we are and want to become. Karla Dreyer
“I love the simple things in a home such as a favourite textile, a candle or fresh flowers. Adding these touches make it personal and bring joy.”
A dilemma many of us face is how to deal with the large TVs we so love. Karla’s stylish solution is to camouflage it with graphic wallpaper, plants and a sleek black console.

“I am a mom of two little gals and one of my values is to show my girls they can live their passions. I envision a world where women are empowered, educated and inspired.”
