Clean, modern lines and an open, airy floor plan are highlighted by stylish furnishings and gorgeous contemporary art in this Venice, CA home. Interior designer Jenn Feldman masterfully balances the home’s high ceilings and neutral backdrop with bold, sizable artwork, low-slung furnishings, and perfectly curated accessories – teaching us all a lesson in scale.
“This project came to us from a long time client”, explains Jenn. “They wanted to create an urban oasis in a new, highly desired section of Venice, California. The owners had passionately rebuilt the property and came to Jenn Feldman Designs to help furnish the full home and bring it to life!
“We realized quickly that the house needed to come first – the lighting, architecture and layout were already defined and outlined for us, and we wanted all these to be seen and not anything the decor would have to compete with.”
“The walls were just waiting for an incredible art plan which truly took the home to another level. We curated a collection that defined the space and didn’t overpower with color or design. This was truly a game of scale, and we pushed into a contemporary collection of original art that all worked together to highlight and frame out all the large walls in the home.”
Indoor/outdoor living at its finest – the stunning living area opens up to the outdoor space through accordion-style glass doors.

What space is your clients’ Modern Sanctuary? A space that brings them peace, comfort and joy?
“For clients today, I think it’s when the kitchen and family room spaces can combine and functionally work together. We call this the 90% of a home…because no matter what size your house is, big or small, everyone wants to be near each other, but still doing their own thing. And everyone wants to be near the food! We find this happens most with our clients that have young families today. This is the space that takes priority.“
“The simple, clean lines and architectural elements needed to be highlighted by the furniture plan we created, adding to the home’s simplicity and urban elegance. Low-slung sofas for the front room to keep the views wide open, a glass dining table to keep the main open area airy and fluid backing up to the clean sweep of the open staircase.”
A black tufted bed frame, two-toned modern side tables, and a yellow velvet bench are grounded by a natural fiber rug in the main bedroom. These tones are enhanced by the colorful artwork lining the entrance wall.
All elements of this house came together like a puzzle and truly landed with a perfect fit! Jenn Feldman
